Bettina studied Interior Architecture at Wiesbaden University of Applied Arts,                          graduating in 1989 with Diplom Ingenieur (FH).

Subsequently she spent several years working for Vitrashop AG in Basel, Switzerland and the architecture office of William Sawaya in Milan, Italy, responsible for store concepts and project development for commercial interiors with personalized user experiences and developing a concept for visual merchandising.

In 1994 Bettina moved to the US, started her photography education at ICP New York in the late ‘90s and graduated in 2004 from the Fashion Institute of Technology New York with the degree AAS Photography, doing photographic work for editorial clients afterwards.

Moving to Berlin in 2005, Bettina worked at Kollwitz 45 furniture store and 

Karena Schuessler Contemporary Design/Art Gallery and developed her own interior design projects.

In 2011 Bettina founded WEST DESIGN together with the lighting designer Dipl. Ing. Edgar Schlaefle, dedicated to the development of luminaries and interior design.

In 2013 Bettina started her Master studies at Wismar University of Applied Arts, graduating in 2015 with Master of Arts in Architectural Lighting Design.

Since then Bettina works independently offering lighting and design concepts (all service phases),  working in close contact with corporate and private clients, architects and specialty planners.

Bettina has been a registered member of the Berlin Chamber of Architects since 2017.
